With so many options for kitchen knives these days, which one should you purchase? Since 1931, ZWILLING has been at the forefront kitchen knife innovation... pioneering the way all knife brands manufacture their knives today. But have they lost their touch over the decades? Are ZWILLING knives any good? 

We'll be evaluating the ZWILLING knife series based on a few factors:

ZWILLING All*Star Series

Overview. One of ZWILLING's oldest series and recently revamped, these are knives are sturdy and built to last.

Knife Type. The ZWILLING All*Star series offers chef, bread, paring & peeling, steak, santoku, utility, cleaver and carving knives. Safe to say you'll find a knife for any and every occasion.

Manufacturing Method. The blades undergo the forging process.

Blade Material. The blades are made from special formula high carbon stainless steel. The blades go through ZWILLING's signature ice-hardening technique leading to harder, sharper blades that will not stain or chip.

Sharpness. The blades are precision-honed and laser-controlled edge for superior sharpness.

Handle Material and Comfort. Newly designed handles are built for comfort with a priority on being ergonomic. 

Maintenance and Care. The knives are dishwasher safe, however, we always recommend handwashing ZWILLING knives to avoid harmful chemicals and damages of putting it in a dishwasher.

Price and Budget. Individual knives range from $84.99 to $184.99, making the All*Star series an affordable, luxury set of knives.

ZWILLING Pro Series

Overview. Known for it's wide variety of knife sets, the Pro Series is geared as the
"most user-friendly" knife in the market. The curved bolster (the part between the handle and the blade) supports the everyday chef, reducing fatigue and results in safe cutting.

Knife Type. The ZWILLING Pro series offers chef, bread, paring & peeling, steak, santoku, utility, bird's beak, boning, peeling, fileting, nakiri, cleaver and carving knives.

Manufacturing Method. The blades undergo the forging process.

Blade Material. The blades are made from special formula high carbon stainless steel. 

Sharpness. Ice-hardened Friodur blade are sharper, stays sharper longer, and has superior resilience for years to come.

Handle Material and Comfort. The handle is made from ABS plastic and is both durable and resilient. The full tang and handle are triple-riveted for superb stability and comfort.

Maintenance and Care. The knives are dishwasher safe, however, we always recommend handwashing ZWILLING knives to avoid harmful chemicals and damages of putting it in a dishwasher.

Price and Budget. Individual knives range from $69.99 to $199.99 and the knife sets range from $199.99 to a 22 piece knife block set at $1,599.99

ZWILLING Bob Kramer 2.0 Series

Overview. The most famous bladesmith, Bob Kramer has developed the latest evolution in knife series alongside ZWILLING. 

Knife Type. The Bob Kramer series offers chef, bread, paring, santoku, utility and carving knives.

Manufacturing Method. These knives undergo the welding manufacturing process in Seki, Japan.

Blade Material. Straight carbon steel 512100 for retained sharpness that only carbon can deliver

Sharpness. The blade undergoes a traditional 3-step hand sharpening process by Japanese artisans, the end result is sharpness that Michelin star chefs would be proud of.

Handle Material and Comfort. Newly designed and hand shaped Micarta handle for a sturdy, safe grip. The handle design includes brass rivets with a Bob Kramer logo. 

Maintenance and Care. These knives are NOT dishwasher safe and must be handwashed.

Price and Budget. With professional materials and design, this series is on the high-end for ZWILLING knives. The 7 piece knife block set will cost you $1,599.99.

Conclusion: If it's good enough for the most famous bladesmith in the world, it's good enough for us. The knife set is the luxury knife you dream of. It does come with a big price tag, so be ready to spend if you want the Bob Kramer series.
