I had a small evaporative cooler in this shop but it has never cooled very good so this summer I decided to purchase a Mr. Cool mini split unit since I didn't want a window unit. The old cooler made a lot of noise and the Mr. Cool is so quiet and cools great. I installed the unit myself although you may need a friend at times because the outdoor unit can be heavy.I mounted the outdoor unit on the wall,fastened to some of the structural beams inside. Overall the unit is not that hard to install depending on your structure and how much of a DIY'er you are.Read the instruction manual and refer back often.It is not complicated but you want to do it right the first time.You will probably need an electrician if you have codes to follow and electricity can be dangerous. I followed the sq. footage chart on this website and ordered the recommended unit. These units were made to be installed by a homeowner or handyman and can save you a lot of money versus a professional HVAC technician. This month (August) should really be a good test since the temps have been over 100 degrees for the last 10 days. My son has two Mr. Cool units and is happy with them.There are less costly mini splits available from companies never heard of before , some are pre-charged and some are not, so buyer beware. Not having to find a HVAC company that would charge the unit with freon was a huge plus for me and I wanted a name brand with a warranty to back it up.If you have a professional install the unit you get a longer term on the warranty. I am satisfied with the Mr. Cool and with Premium Home Source.The shipping was great,the unit was packed really well and wrapped in plastic with no damage. I didn't know anything about Premium Home Source before but they stood by their word and delivered on time with a good freight company.
